Sam and Kyle’s VanDusen Garden Wedding

Working with Sam and Kyle to plan their Vancouver Wedding was so much fun!  These two had such a clear vision for what they wanted for their big day and we were so in love with all the small details they incorporated to make this wedding unique… Like penguins!

Check out some photos from their big day, taken by our friends Jelger and Tanja Photographers:

When we first met up with these two, they were already set on having their ceremony in the beautiful Van Dusen Botanical Gardens.  As this is one of our all time favourite Vancouver Wedding Venues, we were stoked!  We then suggested the hall for the Reception, and we were set!  We  had the pleasure of working with the venue’s resident caterers-  Truffles Catering again, and they certainly did not disappoint.  The vegetables were especially delicious!

The decor set up for this venue was truly unique.  The mother of the bride, an amazingly talented painter, created painted floral runners for all of the tables.  The couple created the branch chandeliers that were hanging about all of the tables.  Flower Factory then came in with their florals and turned that hall into a garden itself.  The florals including the bouquets were just unreal.

The ceremony took place on the lawn by Heron Lake. Officiated by the bride’s uncle, the ceremony was super personalized.  Louise Nicholson was also present to create a real life painting of the ceremony.  The art turned out beautifully- such an excellent idea for a wedding keepsake.

Oh course there was also dessert!  The Cake and the Giraffe created some stunning and delicious cupcakes and used edible flowers to decorate them.  This was our first wedding where every single cupcake was completely devoured… within about an hour.  Dalana also made the beautiful cake with hand painted florals to match the theme.  A penguin bride and groom topped the cake.

Jay Juco from First Class DJ took care of the beats all night.  Our favourite part was the first dance. Choreographed by Delphine from First Dance Vancouver, it was truly spectacular and there wasn’t a dry eye in the building.

Swanybooth set up outside for one of the most fun photobooths we’ve had at an event.  Johnny’s Pops also came around to provide guests with late night popsicles.  He frequents festivals around the city, and if you have a chance to try one of his popsicles, we highly recommend it!

Being a Vancouver Wedding Planner is truly a dream come true.  We love our wedding clients so much and we love days like this where we get to work with all of our Vancouver Wedding Industry friends.  Thank you to you all for a fantastic and fun day.
